KTMHC has secured a Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) grant to hire two assessors with museum-specific expertise to help review its plans for managing all its collections—buildings included. The CAP grant, awarded on behalf of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), a Federal agency, funds an orientation for curatorial staff and volunteers, several days of on-site consultation with the museum assessors, and final reports that will inform future plans for all collections and for a site re-interpretation aimed at 21st-century audiences.
“Our objects, documents and even our buildings—including the ones we acquired in 2016 at 152 Main Street—comprise our collections,” says board president Hilary Micalizzi. “This grant acknowledges the significance of our site and its historic assets.” The CAP program is administered for IMLS by the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation (FAIC).
